Welcome to another “Date with Prince William”.  Today’s tour takes us to the historic town of Occoquan.  Just minutes from I-95, this quaint town on the Occuquan River boasts outdoor dining, craft shows, ghost walks, boat docking and rentals, retail as well as residential living.  The town was aptly named, as it means “along the water” in Algonkian.

Today’s “Date with Prince William” takes us to the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Station, just off Route 1 and minutes from I-95 in Woodbridge, Virginia.  For local destinations – the Fredericksburg Line runs from Fredericksburg to Washington, DC and the  Manassas Line runs from Manassas to Washington, DC.  You can also access destinations as far north as New England.

Park your car here and enjoy coffee from the dining car and catch up on your reading in the quiet car.  Shhhhh, the quite car forbids cell phone use and asks travelers to speak in whispers.  This is all conducive to your choice of concentrating on a task or sleeping.

Check schedules as some of the departures start as early as 5:05 AM.  I have personally enjoyed trips north in these comfortable cars and it’s a great change from driving.  This station is a great asset to all those in the area seeking public transportation to employment out of the Woodbridge area.
